Soaring On Wings Like An Eagle

We spend a few days in Pittsburgh this month for relocation purposes. That is what you get when your family lives the international life. We have been soaring on wings like an eagle. The bible says that we have to wait on the Lord. So that is just what we did when we set out for this new adventure. We prayed and asked the Lord for peace and guidance. Pittsburgh is not an easy place to find a rental home for a large family especially in the month of October. Most transitions in rental houses take place during the summer holidays because of schools. Our relocation consultant was worried that she was not going to succeed in finding us a home and linked to that schools for our children. I was at peace. Literally the first house, we saw, was just finished and on the market. It was it! So was the school and all other things that we had to sort out. Success indeed. Success that we can surely ascribed to the Lord. Miracles happen every moment of the day. A mother and a 2 months old baby are saved in the ruins in Turkey....A child is born....
My God was with me all the way during our stay in PT. Only when I gave into the single thoughts of the "impossible", did I find myself fell to the ground. Back to earth. Away from heaven. It is indescribable.
My conclusion is that to keep on soaring like an eagle, I must trust my Lord fully with all my heart, soul and mind. Only then the "impossible" will happen and a way is literally opened in the desert and the voice calls out: "The Kingdom of heaven is here!" as we give thanks and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ! God, you are truly my God!

What is in the Name?

Psalm 139 says that the Lord searched me and knows me. Yesterday, I lay my 6 year-old boy in his bed and I told him that the Lord knows him and searches him. My son thought that knowing meant that the Lord knows his outward forms and that is basicly it. I explain to him that the LORD knows all things. Even before my son was born, He knew that he was to be born, he knew when and where. What is more important, he perceives where we are, what we are doing and what we are thinking. My boy felt trapped:-).

Still, this word is true. About 2 years ago, the LORD revealed to me that my name meant:"Wonderful scent". As a child, I prayed a lot. I did not have anybody to turn to, so I turned to God (I learned about prayer when I attended a Catholic school). I prayed a lot to God and I could see the fruits of my prayers.

Rev. 5:8 says:
And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

I realized that God knew me before I was born. He was the One who spoke, when they asked for my name. He carefully planned my existence, the name which I was to have and which would characterized my being. This week He asked me to surrender all to Him. To bring all my worries (small as well great) to His cross and to trust Him to take care of all. To trust Him to establish justice, righteousness and that He is in control of all. How can I not? His Name says that He is the great "I am". He is the One who He says He is. How can I not trust Him when He perfectly created me, a very small being compared to the heavens. It is great to know that the great "I am" is watching over me and taking care of me.

Expect the Impossible

Last Friday, I picked up my mom from the airport. You may say, well that is great; so what is so special? Well, my mom arrived at the check-in desk in Surinam two hours too late. Everybody, who has ever checked in Surinam knows that chances of you getting into the plane is very, very small. Especially when the plane is about to leave. My mom was lucky that a steward just happened to be coming out at the desk and my mom was able to quickly check in and board immediately.

My mom arrives about 9 hours later at the international airport of Amsterdam, Schiphol. Every trip to the Netherlands have gone without any problems. I never listened to the broadcasting, but just now I did. And would you know, I heard my name and I was able to get to the immigration office and pick up my mom. The immigration officer was nice and needed verifications from me. My mom drives home happily and learned something very important from God. When God is with us, we can expect the impossible. That is how God is glorified. There are many more true stories I could write of God's provision for our family. I can only say, expect the impossible and be amazed. There is so much freedom in knowing that God is in control.

Thank you, my precious Father, for taking care of me and my family. You are so good. Your love endures forever! Amen.

Simply Follow

Power Surge is a group of people praying together; encouraging each other to follow Jesus by inviting the Holy Spirit to take control of our lives. While I was on my usual run last friday, the LORD clearly spoke to me to gather the group together for a trainingcamp. The LORD did not tell me what or how, I just had to gather the group together for a sporty training at a beach in Rotterdam. So I send out a message to the members; I expected complaints, but that did not come.....

The group showed up at the beach. It is interesting to note that the members were not dressed properly. They expected it to be a jogging camp, because I am a runner. God usually take things from our daily lives and teaches us how things works in our spiritual lives. God took this opportunity to teach us many things. The LORD was clear that this would be a trainingcamp. The members came equiped with the wrongs shoes and their bags. They expected to run, but still ....

Their expectation was to run. We ended up doing just 4 minutes of jog and talking about how we can glorify God and praying. We sometimes have expectations of what God expects from us on the basis of circumstances or how God had done it in the past. When we have expectations or depend on the circumstances, we might walk away from Gods calling and the blessings that come from following Him. God is creative. His ways are incomprehensible.

God is good. His ways are good and His plans for us are good. When we calls us, His information is not much but clear enough to guide us. We sometimes add information to His. His message is simple. We make it complicated by adding and adding. We like to take the lead instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to be our Shepherd. God is simple. Simply follow HIS lead!

Thank you Father for granting us the Holy Spirit as a sure deposit for what will be given to us. Lord make me willing to surrender all to you! In Jesus' name, Amen

I know where I come from and I know where I am going

Yesterday, I celebrated mother's day with my kids. My lucky husband and I were served breakfast in bed. Then the kids presented their beautiful art works, which they had made at school. I am a lucky mom; my kids are very talented!

In the afternoon, I visited a friend in the Rotterdam Detention Centre. He has been here since 1989. He is a refugee and the system has him going back and forth from the streets of Rotterdam to detention centres. He is tired of the system and just wished he could leave this country. His dream is to be accepted in a country and to live a normal life. A home, a job, maybe a partner etc. Life has not been easy for him. In the midst of all the sufferings, he has found hope. He has started reading the bible and is reading journals from Corrie Ten Boom. He is finding strength from the words of God. What do you say to somebody who has not found a home since 1989? There is hope for my friend. Since he is born again in Jesus Christ, I know where he is coming from and I know where he is going (Jn 8:14). Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, went back to prepare a place for him (Jn 14:2-3). It is a pleasure to pray for my friend, who hungers for more of Jesus Christ and who wants to walk the path that His Lord has set out for him. It is moving to see him trust the One who offers the keys to his dreams. I know it is well with him because the LORD reigns!

In Mat 12:50 Jesus says "For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven, he is my brother, sister and mother." Happy mother's day, my friend!
